The Biggest Light In the Dark – The Sun, My Son

On 1st Jun 2025 By Absurd RhioIn plushies5 Comments

He doesn’t fix my pain, and I don’t ask him to - but his love still reaches me, even in the darkest spaces. My son has been the Sun in my universe lately, shining warmth and light on days that felt impossible. I keep orbiting because his light still finds me.

Somewhere Over the Enfys – The Arrival Of A Liberty Jellycat Bear

On 11th May 2025 By Absurd RhioIn plushies2 Comments

During one of the hardest weeks of my life, my son handed me a purple Liberty bag with a Jellycat bear inside. This is the story of Enfys — a rainbow in bear form — and how she reminded me I’m loved, even when I can’t feel it.

Recovery With the Nostalgia of Tea and Biscuits at My Nan’s House.

On 23rd Apr 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Recovery Updates, trauma6 Comments

I’m trying to recover from my anorexia relapse. For this week’s challenge, I’m increasing my intake with tea and biscuits—using the only safe food memories I have from childhood to help me. Alongside the nostalgia and my favourite custard creams, Biscoff the bear is here with his usual fluffy emotional support.

More Little Lights in the Dark – My Son, Starbucks, and Self Care Sunday.

On 14th Apr 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Little lights in the dark2 Comments

This week was hard — full of cluster headaches, grief, and emotional crashes. But in the middle of all that were tiny moments that helped me stay: coffee with my son, a moonstone necklace, a bear in a towel, and a bath that looked like the universe. Little lights in the dark.

The Cyberpunk Hoodie That No Longer Feels Like Mine

On 5th Mar 2025 By Absurd RhioIn mental health1 Comment

I put on my Cyberpunk 2077 hoodie, the one that once made me feel powerful—like I was V, ready to take on the world. But now, it drowns me. The fabric hangs loose where I used to fill it. I might be wearing it, but it doesn’t feel like mine anymore.

If You Tolerate This, Then Your Children Will Be Next

On 20th Feb 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Daily Prompt2 Comments

If you tolerate this, then your children will be next. Your mother does not love you, and she will not love your child either. This is the advice that would have changed so much for us had I heard it when I was a teenager.

A Letter To My Son – For Your 20th Birthday.

On 14th Feb 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Memorable Days10 Comments

I can’t believe you’re 20. Two whole decades of you in my life, shaping me just as much as I’ve raised you. Watching you grow into your most authentic self has been the greatest privilege. No matter where life takes you, you’ll always have me, quantum entangled, forever

Escaping to My Animal Crossing Island, Because Everything Happens for a Raisin

On 5th Feb 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Gaming4 Comments

Escaping to Seren felt like the only thing to do while waiting to see if my crumbling tooth situation could get any worse. The Roost was warm, the coffee pixelated but still comforting. I was alone—until my son arrived, bringing life to my island, and a much-needed distraction.

A Surprise Meaningful Jellycat Haul – Gifted By Jellycat Themselves!

On 1st Feb 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Memorable Days5 Comments

I never expected this. Jellycat reached out and sent me a surprise package—and not just a little keyring, but a full Jellycat haul! As someone who’s never been ‘picked’ for things, this meant more than just plushies. Here’s what they sent me—and why it mattered so much.

Bleaching My Sons Hair While Our Universe Succumbs to Maximum Entropy.

On 27th Jan 2025 By Absurd RhioIn Memorable DaysLeave a comment

When everything crumbled — blood tests, eating disorder relapse, endless chaos — I leaned into maximum entropy. Physics couldn’t fix it, but it made sense of the mess. So, while our universe succumbed to entropy, I bleached my son’s hair. Order emerged in the chaos, his hair flawless, my new Jellycat pig, Hamilton, watching.
