In the Trenches While Riddled With Covid

In the way life seems to hand me one battle after another, I’ve now become riddled with Covid while already in the trenches with my anorexia recovery. That’s unfortunately why I haven’t been posting here lately.

I’m on day 11 and still really poorly – no voice, barely able to get out of bed. If it’s not the coughing, it’s the fatigue, made worse by the nightly coughing fits that keep me awake half the night.

There’s never a good time to get Covid, but it feels especially badly timed while I’m trying to recover. It’s given me the worst acid reflux of my life, destroyed my appetite, and stole my taste (which is now returning, but weirdly). I haven’t managed a full meal since before I became riddled, and I’ve lost some of the weight I worked so hard to put back on.

Mostly, I’m just fed up. I kept putting off posting, hoping that tomorrow I’d feel well enough to write a proper post – but that day hasn’t happened yet. So I thought I’d at least pop in to say where I’ve been and to promise that I will be back.

My son caught Covid first – he’s about fourteen days in now and still coughing and exhausted. But together, in sickness, we’ve built a new Minecraft world and have been using the in-game narrator to talk to each other. When I’m less croaky, I can’t wait to write a full post about our little world. He’s somehow managed to go back to uni despite the post-Covid fatigue, and I genuinely don’t know how he’s doing it.

Anyway, I hope to see you all – and catch up with your blogs – very soon. Hope you all manage to stay safe from this razor blade hoarse voice version of Covid.
